Students should not pay based on old fee information. The latest fee structure will be updated after the BITSAT 2027 notification.
## 6. BITSAT 2027 Eligibility Criteria
Before applying for BITSAT, students should carefully check the eligibility requirements.
The most important things to understand are:
1.Class 12 qualification.
2.Required subjects.
3.Minimum aggregate percentage.
4.Individual subject marks.
5.Qualifying examination year.
**A. Educational Qualification
**
Students must have passed or be appearing for the Class 12 examination under the 10+2 system from a recognised Central or State board or an equivalent qualification.
The qualifying examination year and other conditions will be specified in the BITSAT 2027 brochure.
**B. Required Subjects for BITSAT
**
The required subjects depend on the programme a student wants to apply for
Important for BiPC students: Students who studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology may be eligible for B.Pharm. and B.E. Environmental and Sustainability Engineering under the 2026 eligibility rules. They are not eligible for every B.E. or M.Sc. programme.
PCB students should also check the mathematics proficiency condition specified in the official brochure.
**C. Minimum Marks Required**
For the previous BITSAT admission cycle, students were required to satisfy the following marks criteria:
At least 75% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for applicable PCM programmes.
At least 60% marks individually in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
For applicable PCB programmes:
At least 75% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
At least 60% marks individually in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Both theory and practical marks are considered according to the institute's applicable calculation rules.
Example: If a student has 80% in Physics, 72% in Chemistry and 73% in Mathematics, the aggregate is calculated using these three subjects. The student must satisfy both the aggregate requirement and the individual 60% requirement.
**D. Which Class 12 Students Can Apply?
**
The qualifying-year condition is important.
For BITSAT 2026, BITS Pilani specified eligibility for students who passed Class 12 in 2025 or were appearing in 2026, subject to the other conditions.
For BITSAT 2027, the corresponding qualifying years will be specified in the 2027 information brochure.
Students who passed Class 12 several years earlier should not assume that they are eligible.
Note: All the above eligibility details are based on the 2026 admission rules. Students must verify the final BITSAT 2027 conditions before applying.
## 7. BITSAT 2027 Exam Pattern
BITSAT is conducted as a computer-based online examination.
Students have to answer multiple-choice questions within the allotted examination time.
The following table explains the examination pattern from the previous admission cycle.
**How Does BITSAT Marking Work?
**
Under the previous pattern:
1.Every correct answer carries 3 marks.
2.Every incorrect answer carries a penalty of 1 mark.
3.No marks are awarded or deducted for unanswered questions.
Example:
Suppose a student answers 100 questions correctly and 15 questions incorrectly.
1.Correct answers: 100 × 3 = 300 marks.
2.Incorrect answers: 15 × 1 = 15 marks deducted.
3.Total score: 300 − 15 = 285 marks.
This is why accuracy is important in BITSAT. Random guessing can reduce your final score.
**Does BITSAT Have Extra Questions?
**
Yes. Under the previous examination pattern, students who answered all 130 questions could get an opportunity to attempt 12 additional questions if time remained.
These questions were distributed across Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology and Logical Reasoning.
However, once students opted for the additional questions, they could not return to change their earlier answers.
The availability and conditions for extra questions in BITSAT 2027 will be confirmed in the official brochure.
## 8. BITSAT 2027 Syllabus

## 10. BITSAT 2027 Scholarships – How Can Students Get a Tuition Fee Waiver?
This is one of the most important sections for students and parents planning to study at BITS Pilani.
Many students are interested in BITS Pilani but are concerned about the cost of education. To support eligible students, BITS Pilani offers different scholarships and financial assistance schemes.
According to the scholarship information published for students admitted through BITSAT 2026, approximately 25% of students receive some form of financial assistance.
The institute offers:
Tuition-blind admissions for eligible Top 500 BITSAT rankers.
Merit scholarships.
Merit-cum-need scholarships.
Scholarship benefits for eligible students in certain 2+2 dual-degree programmes.
Let's understand each scheme.
**A. Full Tuition Scholarship for Top 500 BITSAT Rankers**
<badge color="success">Top 500 BITSAT Rankers</badge>
BITS Pilani introduced a major tuition-blind admission initiative from the academic year 2026–27.
Under this policy, eligible candidates among the top 500 BITSAT rankers can receive a full tuition fee scholarship for all four years.
This is particularly important for students who perform exceptionally well in BITSAT but are concerned about tuition expenses.
**Eligibility Conditions
**
According to the published policy:
The candidate must be among the top 500 BITSAT rankers.
The annual family income must be up to ₹20 lakh.
Eligible students receive a full tuition fee scholarship for four years.
Students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 7.5 at their respective campus.
The scholarship is built into the admission offer. Students do not need to apply separately for this scholarship after joining.
Example: Imagine a student secures a position within the top 500 BITSAT rankers and the annual family income is ₹12 lakh. If the student satisfies the published conditions, they may receive a full tuition fee scholarship for all four years, subject to maintaining the required CGPA.
This means eligible students can pursue their education at BITS Pilani without paying the tuition fee, although other applicable charges are still payable.
For BITSAT 2027 aspirants: This initiative was announced for AY 2026–27 onwards. Students should check the official 2027 admission and scholarship policy to confirm its applicability and conditions for their admission year.
**B. Merit Scholarship
**
BITS Pilani provides merit-based scholarships to students who perform exceptionally well academically.
Under the published BITSAT 2026 scholarship policy, the following tuition fee waivers are available under the institute's merit award scheme.
For example, students who fall within the top 2% under the applicable merit assessment may receive a 100% tuition fee waiver.
The next 1% may receive a 50% tuition fee waiver.
**C. Merit-cum-Need Scholarship
**
Apart from academic performance, BITS Pilani also considers financial need under its merit-cum-need scholarship scheme.
This scheme is designed to support students who demonstrate good academic performance and satisfy the financial-need requirements.
The percentage refers to the tuition fee waiver, not the entire cost of studying at BITS Pilani.
**D. How Many Students Receive BITS Pilani Scholarships?
**
According to the published scholarship policy, approximately 25% of students admitted to First Degree programmes receive some form of financial assistance.
This includes eligible students receiving merit and merit-cum-need awards.
The scholarship is not automatically guaranteed to every student who joins BITS Pilani. Students must satisfy the relevant criteria.
**E. Are BITS Pilani Scholarships Available for All Four Years?**
This is an important question for parents planning the overall education budget.
Regular merit and merit-cum-need awards are made for one semester at a time.
Their continuation in subsequent semesters depends on:
The student's academic performance.
The student's financial need, wherever applicable.
1.Good academic standing.
2.Good conduct.
3.The institute's applicable scholarship conditions.
The Top 500 tuition-blind admission initiative has a separate four-year provision, subject to its stated conditions, including maintaining a minimum CGPA of 7.5.
**F. Scholarships for 2+2 Dual Degree Programmes with Foreign Universities**
BITS Pilani also offers certain 2+2 Dual Degree programmes in collaboration with foreign universities.
Under the published scholarship policy, eligible students admitted through these programmes can receive merit and merit-cum-need scholarship benefits during their first two years.
**The scholarship conditions include:
**
First-semester scholarship consideration based on BITSAT performance among students admitted through the applicable schemes.
Subsequent-semester consideration based on academic performance at the respective campus and applicable scholarship rules.
Tuition fee waivers capped at the level applicable to regular four- or five-year programmes at the Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campuses.
For the remaining two years, students may be eligible for scholarship benefits offered by their respective foreign universities.
Some of the collaborative programmes listed by BITS Pilani include:
1.BITS-RMIT Higher Education Academy.
2.BITS-UB (UBITS) 2+2 International Collaborative Programme.
3.BITS-ISU 2+2 International Collaborative Programme.
4.BITS-CSP 2+2 International Collaborative Programme.
5.BITS-RPI 2+2 International Collaborative Programme.
Students interested in these programmes should check the respective university's admission brochure and scholarship conditions.
**G. Is the Admission Fee Also Waived?
**
No. According to the published scholarship policy, there is no waiver of the admission fee.
The scholarship benefits discussed above apply to tuition fees according to the relevant scheme.
Students should also remember that hostel, mess and other applicable charges are separate from tuition fee waivers.
**H. Important Scholarship Conditions
**
Before planning to join BITS Pilani based on scholarship benefits, students and parents should understand the following:
Regular scholarship awards are made for one semester at a time.
Continuation depends on academic performance and financial need, where applicable.
Scholarship holders must maintain good academic standing and conduct.
Fees and other applicable charges are payable in advance for each semester or term.
Withdrawal from a course does not automatically entitle a student to a fee refund.
The admission fee is not waived under the published scholarship policy.
Important for BITSAT 2027: All scholarship amounts and conditions in this section are based on the published BITSAT 2026 / AY 2026–27 policy. The applicable scholarship policy for 2027 should be verified when the institute releases its admission information.
